Everton and their expectations are completely different to ours I'd say.
I know the history there. The more I think about this the more I can see the upside. We would at least, on a footballing front start to move in the right direction again. I'd take that now, rather than this turgid crap we've been served up. But the bigger picture too... he'd go some way to sorting out the strategy behind the scenes too in terms of recruitment etc. | | | |

Everton's expectations are of course different the slime ball said he could meet those ambitions by taking them to the CL (his words) he failed. He took Whelan's Wigan down which I still laugh about.

I think many would give it a thumbs up, especially given the current predicament.
I always remember when he took over from Jackett. It's was very noticeable, even in the first game in charge that we were going about thing in a different way. With more experience and with better players I reckon it would be a good appointment in the medium to long term. Perhaps even in the short term. | | | |

They both created something that allowed the club to prosper at a lower level but both have also struggled as Premier League managers.

Rodgers comfortably kept up a team consisting of players like Alan Tate, Leroy Lita and plenty of other average lower league players. He then came the closest any Liverpool manager has got to winning the title in a very long time.

That's a good point and shows that at that time the club learnt from its mistakes. It doesn't anymore.
I'm not sure we should appoint him but if the opportunity was there we'd be extremely foolish not to at least look and seriously consider it. And it's a good deal for all then go for it.

A superb manager for us, the best we've ever had arguably, especially in terms of what he did for us and the city.
Won an FA Cup with bloody Wigan too. Everton's a whole new ball game and they're unlikely to ever be anything different to what they are now, on the periphery.

Ok maybe my phrasing was off there but essentially what I am getting at is I don't think Martinez would not be a useful hire for a fire-fighting exercise (which let's fact it, it is at this stage).
Harsh on Rodgers maybe, but that Swans team was one that had a stable platform, a specific way of playing, tried and tested by a selection of solid pros with a sprinking of game-changers - I just can't see him being a short-term fix style manager.
We should have got him in the Summer, well in advance of the "root and branch" review, so he could be at the forefront of how me move the team forward.
