Players Xmas party... on 16:53 - Dec 5 by Vetchfielder | As long as there's a few days gap before a match then I don't see it as a problem. If it's happening right now then sounds absolutely fine to me. |
Have a couple of drinks Don't get messed up Get back to training and win on Saturday ...... no problem Come back and lose Saturday....... bit of a problem
| This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you." |

Are the fans the only people who actually give a fvck what happens to our club. Couldn't make it up,arguably one of the biggest games of the season, and where are they out on the lash, brilliant preparation.
Players Xmas party... on 18:24 - Dec 5 with 1341 views | MrSwerve | It depends what you mean by an 'Xmas party'. If they're going for a meal with a few beers and want to socialise with each other, I have no problem with that. If they are committed professionals, they'll regulate what they drink and be sensible. The problem is, the majority of footballers are a bit thick. If they are literally going for a 2 day bender then that is irresponsible, regardless of the position that we are in. If they had half a brain between them, they'd have a 'quiet' xmas party or meal and keep their heads down. They're paid enough for it. I can see both sides of the coin for and against professional athletes drinking during the season (especially at such a critical stage), but I see no problem at all with a few beers in moderation. They are human at the end of the day, and should be allowed a little bit of a release. [Post edited 5 Dec 2017 18:25]

Players Xmas party... on 18:28 - Dec 5 with 1324 views | Dr_Winston | Think it would say a lot if they have decided it's safer to have their Christmas do 200 miles away.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Players Xmas party... on 18:27 - Dec 5 by Darran | So if it’s true the first team squad have gone to London as a group you think they might be having a meal and a few beers Swervey? |

Players Xmas party... on 17:27 - Dec 5 by jasper_T | Different competitive environment entirely. Everyone was drinking and smoking back then. No comparison to the modern game. Proper application of sports science plays a huge part in player recovery and energy levels on matchday, and the well-run clubs are all pushing the limits of what they can get away with. |
I used to play rugby on a Saturday, go on the piss after the game get smashed, feel sorry for myself until about 6, O'clock on the Sunday then go for a 6/7 mile run worked for me

Yes but even if that was true I’m not playing in our most important Prem game ever in 4 days time.

Players Xmas party... on 19:25 - Dec 5 with 1238 views | Cooperman | Team building away from base with very low alcohol intake is fine. Massive bender and the equivalent of the dentists chair is simply not good enough. I’m sure it won’t be the latter.
