That Ref 22:39 - Dec 13 with 2872 viewsSTID2017

Firstly this isn't an excuse - we would have got hammered anyway.
The ref was abysymal.
Every time one of theirs fell, he gave a free kick.
Only time he started giving decisions was when the game was long gone from us.

An absolute shocker. Gave them everything and they mist certainly did not need it.

Watching it on the TV and a lot of the decisions he gave which upset our crowd actually seemed spot on.

They were very cute. Protecting the ball by putting themselves between us and the ball. As soon as any contact was made they would hit the deck and the tw@tinblack fell for it every time. When the boot was on the other foot there was no foul.

Taylor hates us.

The penalty he gave Burnley last season when Vokes handled, plus the penalty against Neil Taylor v Liverpool a few seasons ago are just a few poor decisions he's given against us.

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

Like the handball in the first half when the two players were between him and the ball, the only way he got that one right was by guessing

Oh of course. Fer and Ayew have that down to a fine art too. I prefer refs that let those go, but I think he's within his right to blow up.

We're so poor I don't think any ref could actually harm us at the moment.

Just a point to you and Leon above - I started by saying not using him as an excuse.
Whoever we are playing and whether we are in a relegation battle or not, we stiĺl need a ref who is fair and consistent.8

He was looking after his lift to his Manchester home on the team coach. Should not have been appointed to ref a Manchester club.

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

Wasn't there an issue with him being appointed to ref a Man U v Liverpool match because he is from Manchester last season or season before?

He has been nothing but incompetent every time that he has reffed us

If it had been 1-1 he'd have given a penalty. Haha, like it could ever be 1-1.

Blaming the ref for anything last night is a bit rich. Referees will generally give decisions to an attacking side or the side with momentum, and there was only one side out there playing last night.

It's true that he is very poor and biased mind.

One of the consequences of his bias is that it makes our players even less likely to put in a decent tackle and very unlikely to put in a crunching one.
How much of our backing off was down to that and how much was natural inclination is hard to say.

I thought that after the first ten mins we looked scared to put a challenge in and the free kick leading up to the second goal Sterling threw himself at Naughton and went down far to easily and he is one of the worst divers in this division.
