That has been addressed many times now, even on page 1.
The connection is not race.
Due to generational racism, large parts of these deprived areas are made up from ethnic minorities in major Cities. So the connection is wealth, not race.
Look at the Gurnos estate in Merthyr, or Townhill in Swansea. I would say 99% of the crime is committed by white people. Is the connection white people then? Or is it the deprived area of which they reside?

Regards the post about groups of 18-25 year olds just hanging around street counters all day everyday, then would a form of National Service help from say 18 to 21.
No job, and not in full time education, then National Service boys and girls.
I am thinking helping local sports clubs facilities, or clean up local beaches, rather than invading Iraq.

The point has been made though, several times.
Nobody has suggested that if you are from a deprived area then you will turn to crime. But lets be utterly clear here, it is the common link.
Why are people concerned or feel uneasy when walking through areas such as this and feel safer walking through more upmarket wealthier areas? Because of the black people? Or because there is a clear link to crime and people who reside in these areas?
