Pre-match drinks in Birmingham rather than Wolverhampton? 16:58 - Jan 4 with 3953 views | Glyn1 | As most of the pubs in Wolverhampton don't serve away fans, a couple of us travelling by train are planning to stop for a few drinks in Birmingham. It's less than a 30 minute train journey to Wolverhampton after that. These two pubs have always had Jacks in them before the Villa and WBA matches and they are about 10 seconds from to each other - you can walk from one to the other via the smoking areas. Old Joint Stock (Fullers). B2 5NY http://www.oldjointstock.co.uk/ The Wellington (specialises in real ales, always full of Jacks when we play Villa and WBA). B2 5SN http://www.thewellingtonrealale.co.uk/ 5 minute stagger from New Street Station http://walkit.com/walk/?city=birmingham&from=NEW+STREET+STATION&fuid=3287109_392 [Post edited 4 Jan 2018 17:01]

bacchus bar downstairs in the Burlington Mcdonald Hotel right by the station used to be excellent. Don't know whether you get in https://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/restaurants/eastandwestmidlands/bacchusbarbirmi

When we went to the Wolves game first season in Prem we couldn't get in anywhere and ended up in an awful chain bar some distance from the ground. Much more sensible to go to one of the many excellent pubs in Brum.

Damn right. If Wolverhampton pubs don't want our cash then don't give it to them. Birmingham is only 30 minutes away.
