Yep. Not sure what heading that would come under. Professional foul I guess.

There no such thing in reality, least of all in that area of the pitch. It was a cynical trip but neither violent, dangerous nor did it prevent an obvious goalscoring opportunity. Not a red card in a gazillion years. [Post edited 6 Jan 2018 18:24]

There is, but in 2010 FIFA wanted to stop situations like this happening so added a subtext of denying a clear goalscoring opportunity - which he obviously didn't.

I’ve edited slightly and we mostly agree but there’s no mention of a “professional foul” in any football rules or laws. It’s a colloquial term.

Highlights from today on 18:34 - Jan 6 with 3093 views | Morfa_Same | The ref should be suspended for that red card. It's the same four of five refs every time. Nothing will improve if the FA just let them carry on.
Highlights from today on 18:35 - Jan 6 with 3085 views | Swanjaxs | If being a lazy bà stard warranted a red card then Fer was bang to rights 👠

Highlights from today on 18:36 - Jan 6 with 3074 views | monmouth | This brilliant defence we had today? Looked like chance after chance after chance for the opposition to me. As for that baldy turd, he should be made to explain that in public. There is no way he could. Oh and have we accidentally found someone who can take a direct free kick?

Highlights from today on 19:10 - Jan 6 with 2863 views | MoscowJack | Didn't the law change last year to say that if someone makes a deliberate foul, with zero attempt to get near or win the ball, it's a red card? Arsenal's kid got sent off against us (home game, I think) when we had a break away and one of ours was hauled down similar to this just after the law was introduced as the ref took it literally. It will be interesting to see what happens with an appeal as the law is there that says a red should be shown if there was no intent to win the ball. If Fer had made more of an effort to win the ball, he might have injured the player but not been sent off.

Highlights from today on 19:24 - Jan 6 with 2787 views | Jango | The way they described it on the radio I thought he’d run over and booted the bloke in the air. How many times do you see players deliberately diving in and taking the player out to stop an attack And it’s only ever a yellow. He’s just cheekily clipped his ankles, terrible refereeing. Fers a liability tho and can’t be trusted to keep his discipline

Do you mean the Kung Fu kick on Barrow at theirs? Fer's was cynical. Xacha's was nasty.

Yes Xhaka went for violent conduct on top of a cynical chop. Fer just tripped him.
