At Brighton. Stone wall again.

Who are they playing?

Chelsea.

I'm glad of course but it's the same thing every single week!

Ah well. Theyll all even themselves out over the course of the season. Or something.

I suppose you're right. Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City etc. Will end up roughly with the same amount of decisions going for them. And down the bottom, near parity on decisions going against.

Exactly, its all a bit predictable isnt it? Normal service resumed.

What does annoy me tho is that a keeper can come out and smash an attacker-no foul. But an attacker cant go for any sort of challenge with him, or even compete with his head

Agreed. Bring back the days when you could smash the keeper into the net with the ball (and he'd still have his pipe in his mouth).

Seriously though, it's gone much too far the other way.

I'm not convinced. I think he was tripped if only marginally.

This is something VAR won't be able to sort out because it becomes an opinion.

Personally, I don't think any of the penalties should have been awarded. That's the 2 Schelotto efforts and just now the Hazard effort. Oh, and I see Willian's back to his best - diving in the centre circle. Thankfully Jon Moss, who is normally easily conned, hasn't fallen for them.

Thing is this - and this is just my personal opinion. When there's minimal contact I don't want to see penalties/fouls given. And I'd much rather refs not give stonewall penalties than give dodgy ones. Penalties ruin lots of games.

By perpetuating the "there was contact, so he was entitled to go down" attitude you're only encouraging players to look for contact.

And you can't say that Moss has favoured Chelsea in this one ... yet.

It was a clear trip.

Sky showed it from Moss's angle and it couldn't have been more obvious.

The commentatory on your TV must be different to mine as the co commentator on my TV did not say that

Alan Smith not offering a definitive opinion?!? What a shocker.

The video was clear.

Schelloto also got booked for dissent after the incident so a yellow for diving as well would have been harsh.

Fair play Edin Hazard just made in entire Brighton defence and goalkeeper look like mugs there 👍

This, even though all the pundits were complaining about the var non penalty on Willian, there was only minimal contact, he wasn’t brought down he dived, penalties for these contacts are very soft and only encourage the cheats.

Dermot Gallagher defended the linesman, and I guess he's right. Because Caballero had come out he wasn't the last man anymore so the linesman (whose primary concern is offside) had to focus on the second last defender when the ball went forward towards the Brighton player ahead of Schelotto (or was that the other pen shout? not sure). If he was focussed on that he couldn't be focussed on the incident as well. Tough job innit.
