RIP Tony Peluso the guitar player too. He was in the DJ in the video posted above as well.

Thank you, goodnight and bollocks

They should have just quit after this.

I don't mean the Carpenters. I mean everyone in pop music, even the rare guitar soloists (1:30 and 2:55).

The solo in goodbye to love still stands out as do the harmonies that end the song

Staggering and they stand the test of time

I remember reading somewhere that the record company were outraged at the fact that there was a fuzz guitar solo on the record. The siblings were insistent though that it stayed.

Come to think of it, this must be the first power pop/rock ballad.

What's also funny is that Richard Carpenter claims he got hate mail from fans who claimed they'd "sold out and gone hard rock."

I think that website was made in the 70's too

Also, seasoned veteran session musician Hal Blaine played drums on that track. I never knew that either!

She actually hated fronting up the band and much preferred being behind the kit. It took a lot of coaxing.

I've recently started learning this after being inspired by this thread. I'd recommend any guitarists out there to give it a go.

One of the most iconic guitar solos in modern music by Tony Peluso.
