I remember reading somewhere that the record company were outraged at the fact that there was a fuzz guitar solo on the record. The siblings were insistent though that it stayed.

What's also funny is that Richard Carpenter claims he got hate mail from fans who claimed they'd "sold out and gone hard rock."
Excellent pair, excellent bro and sis, its such a shame there wasnt that much help around back then for her illness, i watched the documentary on bbc4 i think it was a couple of weeks ago, what sleeping tabs was old rich on ? He said he loved the buzz they gave lol.
