Interesting to read that the show took its name from music being tested on doormen in grey suits. If the 'old greys' could remember and whistle a song after a couple of plays, it was catchy enough to sell.

The Brill Building...
We'd just been to see Jersey Boys on Broadway and walking back to our hotel I bend down to tie my shoelace. As I get back up I'm facing this door that's in darkness. I notice that it says 1619 on the glass and above it is written The Brill Building. Lost on my wife but oddly it was quite emotional for me. As you were.
On the night Bob told a lengthy story about the time he had to fly out to New York to interview John Lennon for OGWT,the norm was that people would go to the show for the interview but because JL was worried he might not be allowed back into the States because of his anti-war stance if he flew to the UK so Bob went out there. Anyway the funniest part of the story was that off camera JL told Bob that he was very angry with Elvis Presley because he believed he was conspiring with Richard Nixon to get him kicked out of and banned from America.
