I know I'm pessismistic, but I get the feeling 42 points will be the target this year. The quality down the bottom is alot higher than years gone by.

Nice winning day out in May when we're safe as well., finally shoving 1927 down the throats of our Eastern cousins.
Next season doing the double over Spurs while Cardiff languish in the lower leagues.

Palace's combined fixture and injury list is comfortable reading, they haven't won a league game without Zaha all season.

Everyone says Saints are too good to go down, well the only team that has won less than them this season are West Brom, how can a team who have won 5 games in 27 be 'too good' to go down?

I just don't buy Stoke, or Paul Lambert for that fact, either.

Some of those games become insignificant to the teams in the top 4 if their top 4 place is already assured and there are cup finals on the horizon. We have seen it in years gone by with the likes of Wigan winning at top teams .

also it never works out to predict where the points are coming from. nothing is predictable at this stage of the season. who would have thought swans would get 6 points from liverpool/arsenal?

there are so many factors in the last 10 games that you wouldn't weigh on on paper. schedule has broken kindly for swans the last 2 years, with many games coming against teams low on motivation, on the beach, etc.

for instance this season, i would think games against chelsea and man united are going to be there for the taking. i'd rather play a chelsea team with a manager out the door than a west ham team fighting for their lives.

I can relate to your pessimism, but I disagree just because we currently have 8 clubs (including ourselves) who are on pace to finish with less than 40 points. Additionally, B'mouth, Watford, and West Ham are far from guaranteed to get to 40 either.

Have to think at least 3 of those will fall short.

Not really

One team can win 5 games by 2-0, another can lose 5 games 3-2, both can score the same goals, but which one has more points?

West Brom have only scored 1 more goal than us, and conceded the same amount, with a 7 point difference.
