I was there over the weekend.

Friday - Munster 3rd div 8,300
Saturday - Schalke Bundesliga 61,000
Sunday - Monchengladbach Bundesliga 53,000

As the crowds are so big, and many stadiums outside the town, majority of fans use public transport (included in ticket prices) so takes a fair amount of time taken travelling. Generally transport was organised well.

I can understand why they are moaning about Monday night games.

Monday night games a complete joke and they are right to protest. As you point out the transport is well organised and it is something that Pearlmann should be looking at to "improve the matchday experience." Buses chartered to take people up the Swansea valley waiting outside the ground after the match has finished for example. Talking of travelling there is one Bundesliga ground that is within walking distance of the city centre and it has an excellent Ryanair connection ;-).
