A simple indicator of the difference under Carlos on 12:58 - Mar 5 with 2284 views | Tom1912 | Carlos worked out a formation that worked with this squad, something Clement could never do. The funny thing is, Carlos has done that with 3 CBs, something Clement was routinely criticised for. The difference is of course, we're playing 5 defenders but in a way that allows us to attack and threaten.

Depends what you count as a decent level. He'll easily get a Championship job. Think he'll be waiting awhile if he holds out for PL job though.

Perhaps he's waiting for his mentor Ancelotti to get a club. He's one of the favourites to replace Conte at Chelsea
| Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎 |

He has three centre halves with two wing backs who are asked to get forward. In midfield he has one sitter and another who just plays infront, the left midfielder(Clucas) is asked to supprt the left wing back. Up top he has one of them supporting the Right Wing back. So fluid and can be interchanged so easily......really impressed.

A simple indicator of the difference under Carlos on 15:03 - Mar 5 with 1956 views | TheKirkyLife | I'm convinced Clement will return to the Premier League under Ancelotti as he takes over Chelsea or Arsenal honestly. I think there is no doubt that he's a great coach but a great manager he is not. Can do the job in the Championship maybe but Carlos has shown him up BIG time. Mind you remember how much on an influence A. Ayew and King had on that most recent game - three assists and a goal between them both. I doubt we would have seen the same result without them.

If Clement goes back to Ancelotti he's basically putting an end to his manager career and admitting he's not good enough. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

A simple indicator of the difference under Carlos on 15:34 - Mar 5 with 1880 views | JFSwan | Clements plan was always defend, not concede and then reply on talented forwards to get you a goal. Work well at Madrid, Bayern & PSG but a team like us will rely on bodies getting forward and in unpredictable patterns

Carlos is like a fisherman with a boxful of different baits, hooks and weights. Clement by comparison was like a little boy fishing with a branch, a piece of string and a worm he'd found in his garden.

A simple indicator of the difference under Carlos on 17:23 - Mar 5 with 1661 views | jack247 | Guidolin was a tactician who devised systems to suit the players at his disposal. Monk and Clement were more about fitting the players they had into the systems they wanted. Bradley just wasn’t good enough. So far, Carvahal seems like a far better (not meant disrespectfully) version of Guidolin. Will be very interesting to see if the owners learn from their mistakes and treat him better, both in the summer transfer market and if he has a bad run of results.
A simple indicator of the difference under Carlos on 19:29 - Mar 5 with 1508 views | MoscowJack | I remember the same wild comments being made about Clement after his first run of games. We need to be careful that we're not over-hyping Carlos. He's had an incredible effect on the positivity of the team but Guidolin and Clement had similar effects too. I've said, on a different thread, how wonderful he's been but there's a big difference between being a troubleshooter and someone who can build a longer-lasting plan. He hasn't had 17 different clubs without a good reason! Let's embrace him, prey that he keeps us up and then look at all of our options in the summer. Carlos could be one of the best options, but we would be idiots not to learn from the mistakes made with Guidolin and Clement. All it might take is giving Carlos better backing than the previous two had, but if that's the case then we (and he!) need guarantees that money will be spent to improve the team. If I was him I'd also need a guarantee that the recruitment team is replaced asap although after managing 17 clubs he probably knows most of the professional players in this world ;)

A simple indicator of the difference under Carlos on 20:05 - Mar 5 with 1421 views | londonlisa2001 | In order to play the system we currently play successfully, players need to be fit. They are noticeably fitter than they were under Clement. It's the biggest single difference, as it means we're able to press, turn from defence into attack quickly, and change shape depending on whether we have the ball or not. Whatever Carlos and his team have done, he's obviously improved training by some distance.

Although it looked like they were also under instructions from PC not to press, whether fit enough or not. It was all about retaining defensive shape without the ball. That’s only half the game of course. Attitude and mindset are also key, as we looked like a Clement team last Tursday when they obviously couldn’t be bothered because it was ‘only’ Sheffield Wednesday.
