PENALTIES 11:15 - Mar 6 with 6395 viewstheloneranger

We've all complained about the lack of penalties awarded to the Swans in recent years......

BUT....on Saturday when Jordan Ayew put away his penalty against West Ham, the Swans became Penalty Kings in the Premier League.

It was the 20th penalty the Swans had scored in the Premier League from 21 attempts...giving them a conversion rate of 95%......the best conversion rate in Premier League history.

Scott Sinclair was the only one to miss when Joe Hart saved his pen against Man City in 2012

I love Fabianski but he HAS to be the worst penalty keeper we’ve ever had.
Consistently jumps the opposite direction to the ball.
If he just stood still he’d do much better.

Lets be nice, we're all newbees on here.

Vorm never saved penalties either if I recall. So many penalties against us go down the middle because Fab is already on his arse. Just stay on your feet for once Fab.

Vorm was fantastic at saving penalties, one of the very best actually in World terms, I think he was called the 'penalty killer' [or something like that, cant be arsed to check] in Dutch football and I remember him pulling off quite a few penalty saves for the Swans.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

Plus he brought Rosie Webster & that glorious chest to Swansea

If by that you mean 'same old English coaches like Monk and Clement who wouldn't let their team get into the opponent's penalty area' then you may have a case. Otherwise, it's just paranoia.

Correct. I remember it like it was yesterday; saved from Ben Watson in the 0-0 at home to Wigan.

Wasn't Fabianski actually very good at saving penalties in Arsenal? I always see tweets from Arsenal fans that they want him back when they have any penalty shootout. Did Fab ever saved pen for us?

But it probably helps that we don't get that many penalties but having the conversion rate of 95% is really nice.

12-13 league position 09th, penalty position 20th
13-14 league position 12th, penalty position 09th
14-15 league position 08th, penalty position 17th
15-16 league position 12th, penalty position 09th
16-17 league position 15th, penalty position 17th
17-18 league position 13th, penalty position 19th

total league positions 80, total penalty positions 100

De Vries was awful at penalties too, but he did save one in a 2-1 defeat at Leicester (Sousa's first game) and in some weird friendly penalty shootout in Spain.

I was surprised by that given how much we got forward. I suppose the answer was that we didn't need them -
Michu probably did give anyone enough time to foul him.

Vorm had the nickname "penalty killer". He was outstanding at saving them, certainly the best I remember.

The worst I have ever seen was Dorus de Vries who used to just collapse or even dive behind the goal line at times. Don't think he ever saved one and that includes shootouts.

Vorm saved one on his home debut for us didn't he? Wigan?

Edit - I really must learn to read on after reading a post before replying . I see all that has since been said.

I remember standing behind the goals as he shaped up to take that penalty at Wembley and shouting "SCORE THIS SCOTTY AND I'LL LOVE YOU FOREVER"

And I'm a man of my word.

In 15/16, most of those (at least 3, maybe 4?) were earned by none other than Andre Ayew.

It's no coincidence that we FINALLY got one this season, thanks to Andre, in his first start back.

Poll: Biggest signing so far in January? (just curious what Planet Swans thinks)

Top teams probably spend twice as long as poor sides in their opponents box so statistically are twice as likely to get pens.

Willy Gueret saved a Jason Scotland penalty, in a penalty shoot out when playing for MK Dons against the Swans in the Johnstone's Paint Southern Area Final.

That penalty save stopped us getting to the 2008 final
