Jordan Ayew penalty 10:40 - Mar 7 with 2738 views | Loyal | Anyone else thinking he was going to get the penalty disallowed on saturday with the staggered run up ? Like Spurs innthe week etc ..... I didn't see a lot of difference in Ayews penalty and the one v Rochdale in the cup.

Jordan Ayew penalty on 10:50 - Mar 7 with 2697 views | Pegojack | I was a tad concerned, but there WAS a difference. The Spurs player stopped dead then restarted his run up, Ayew only slowed down momentarily, he didn't stop.
Jordan Ayew penalty on 10:50 - Mar 7 with 2694 views | ploppy | Slightly different I thought. Son came to a compete stop, whereas JA didn't.
Jordan Ayew penalty on 11:04 - Mar 7 with 2665 views | Tom1912 | No concern. A slow run up is fine. A complete stop is not. Very different.
Jordan Ayew penalty on 11:58 - Mar 7 with 2606 views | 34dfgdf54 | I felt it was Ok, but I don't like those sort of penalties, waiting to see if keeper moves until literally last second is risky imo.

Depends how confident you are in your ability to hit it in the corner if the keeper doesn't move, which is how Sinclair use to take his penalties. It worked well, except for the one time Joe Hart got in his head.

I've not seen the Son one but if it was disallowed shouldn't it have been retaken (I don't think it was)?

You don't retake penalties for that rule. The other team get a free kick and the player gets booked.

This sums it up~~> "Feinting in the run-up to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted," said Fifa's Jerome Valcke.

"Feinting in the run-up" - that was Gomis' trick wasn't it?
Jordan Ayew penalty on 15:04 - Mar 7 with 2248 views | MrSwerve | I'm sure there was some talk a year or so ago to introduce a rule that if a penalty was saved there would be no opportunity to rebound, and it would go straight to a goal kick...obviously didn't get any further than discussions...

Plus Adrian was practically standing next to Ayew by the time he struck the ball. [Post edited 9 Mar 2018 15:16]

No it should not have been retaken. He committed a cautionable offence so the game was restarted with an indirect free kick from where the offence took place.
