Cambridge Analytica 13:11 - Mar 20 with 4520 viewsLohengrin

Reading and listening to the endless procession of old gang Labour and Conservative pundits and politicos bidding to outdo one another in a crescendo of rehearsed outrage I’m struggling to keep a straight face.

Has the penny started to drop yet? The reason for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth is that somebody has come up with a far more effective means of manipulating public opinion than they have in their arsenal.

Entitlement undermined. That’s what you are watching and seeing today.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

Exactly, they are just upset they were not part of it.

That’s If anything actually did happen, but hey it gives the losers like Clinton an
excuse why she lost.

They need to accept they lost the sooner they do the quicker they will get over their
grief it’s got very funny how team Clinton are still crying like little babies.

When you use people’s data, dont you have to check they understand that when they supply it ?

And what about the large DUP spend to these companies that does not need to have the details published, due to different rules in the north of Ireland. Mmmm ...

And have the multiple leave groups deliberately ‘over spent’ with these people, breaking the election rules ?

Is Russia involved ?

Why does the head of Cambridge Analytics use Ukrainian sex workers in pursuit of his business needs ?

All put together it sounds pretty dodgy .... no ?

When the lovable Barack Obama was doing this in 2012, it was because he and the Democrats were geniuses and it was all absolutely fine.

Now the other side are using the same tactics and it's no longer seen the same way. The hypocrisy is hilarious.

Bit different though. Users had to log on to the Democrat campaign site using their Facebook page. They didn't have their data nicked by just being on Facebook.

Not really, it looks like Facebook turned a blind eye to dodgy practices and harvesting techniques used, even granting them exceptions and letting them get away with things they would usually stop because they wanted Obama to win.

I don't think people are suggesting using this data is wrong Dwight.

The question is whether or not the data is collected legally or not.

I'm sure you knew that though.

Democracy still exists Tommy, the only reason criminals are not locked up, is because people want human error..and not machine controlling everything.

The biggest criminal racket is the blood money transfers between accounts.. be careful what you invest in, and take out.

It's just one big f*ck up out there.

And wasn’t Labour only losing by a million odd votes last year put down to their use of social media?

To anyone who supports the Left, be it the Democrats or Labour or Socialism, please try to be honest about how you'd feel if the roles were reversed:

"Facebook came to our office and were very candid that they allowed the Republicans to do things they wouldn't have allowed someone else to do because they were on Trump's side."

What is scary is that this has only come to light - 6 years later - because an Obama campaign director was foolish/arrogant/honest (take your pick) enough to admit it. For every one of these we are lucky enough to discover, how many instances are there of the mainstream media doing underhanded, crooked things for the Left that we will never know about?

Labour. They are miles ahead of the Tories in the manipulation of social media platforms in order to swing opinions and votes in their favour (all totally above board and legal)

Putting party politics aside, this is about control. The powers that be dont like the idea that the manipulation of the masses can be bought on the market for a fee. And it works. The status quo has been threatened.

"Michu, Britton and Williams could have won 3-0 on their own. They wouldn't have required a keeper."

I don't know a lot about the whole thing Tummer but the issue is whether the way the data was collected was legal or not.

Some are saying it wasn't in this most recent case. We'll need an investigation to find out.

Did the Dems do anything illegal in 2012? I don't know. If they did then you and Dwight have a point. If they didn't then its just deflection.
