Some good suggestions made already, but another nearby option towards the sea is the Bayview, which does an okay pint and also serves Thai food.
The Westbourne, on the corner of Bryn-y-mor Road, would have been the real ale drinkers' choice years ago, but has been spoilt by an attempt to take it upmarket. |  | | |

This is on the corner, near the old main entrance to Swansea General Hospital (main facade still there), and close to where the old gents' outdoor public toilets were. But surely you know the pub?
