The biggest disappointment ever?30th Mar 2018 10:30 I couldn't have been the only person who was massively excited when I heard back in the summer that we were about to secure the signature of Renato Sanches from Bayern Munich. Surely this would be one of the best signings that the Swans have ever made?0

Nope. Ronnie Rees. My thirteen year old inner child has been expecting disappointment ever since.
I remember that too. I was younger than you but the thought of a Welsh International signing for us had me dreaming of a brighter future. There have been so many since though, as well as many bright spots. The joys of supporting the Swans

I was a big fan of Ronnie Rees. Why someone would go out week after week to get the cr@p kicked out of them and still try and take players on, I don't know.

I agree. Defenders had to commit ABH to get booked and GBH to get sent off in those days. It makes you realise how good George Best was.

I was 13, we’d spent 26k. I thought he was going to be George Best. I mean, a Welsh international ffs. Disappointment City, Arizona.
I can remember Ronnie playing at home against Rotherham just after he signed in 1973, they kicked him to death.
i had many a pint with Ronnie, he was a joker and always happy, and liked to tell the story of how he scored the winner when Wales beat N Ireland incl George Best at the Vetch in 1970.
He told some great footballing stories especially late at night in theTownsman /Barons😂
Ronnie had a massive stroke when he was approx 50 which greatly affected his mobility and speech and left him in a wheelchair.

I agree a lovely man that was kicked to bits.
My 13 year old eyes saw none of that. Just someone that delivered nothing in a shit team that I thought was great and he would lead to the stars. I even read ‘Shoot’ from cover to cover in those days mun. I knew what Peter Storey’s favourite food was. Steak and chips, medium.

Yeah he’s in with my gran. Think lee trundle has someone down there too he’s down there quite a bit.
My mother is there too, the owners are fantastic with the taking of the residents to the Liberty. Wheelchair friendly bus so my mother is able to go to most home games. Loves the Swans does my Mam. ðŸ‘

Good to hear. Some of these places don't look after their "guests" so well. I don't mean the worst ones where staff are nasty, just the ones where in spite of the staff caring, they don't have the time to treat them the same as Hengoed do.
