Your favourite 80's tracks? 19:14 - Apr 4 with 8634 viewsBrynCartwright

I was born in 1970 so the 80's are my favourite time for music (90's were triffic also).

Here's 3 bangers..

The early 80s were very good, the jam, police Blondie, etc, the rest of the 80s was pretty w@nk to be honest for music.

Until right at the end with the stone roses and others.

One classic immediately sprung to mind.

Agreed

The period from 82 to 89 was very poor for popular music.

Very little memorable music made in this period and all spoiled by that horrible tinny over compressed production and fûcking syn-drums.

U2 were the biggest band in the world in this period...

( Musical taste is subjective and other opinions are equally valid).

Plastic since 1974

How can you choose three? I could choose 53 and still struggle.

To start off though:

Loved Blondie. Still do. But their best stuff is 70s not 80s so I never think of them as an 80s band (obviously I know they were as well).

Squeezes in early 1980, the best thing they did not on parallel lines.

Was that 1980? I thought 79. Ah, in which case I'll amend my earlier comment to the 1970s and 1980 itself.

When we were kids, we were all convinced that Howard Jones' grandmother worked in Swansea Marks & Spencer's. I have no idea how that rumour started or whether there was the remotest truth in it.

Common knowledge when I was a lad that she lived in Treboeth. No idea how true it was.

Perhaps it was true!

We used to go in on a Saturday and ask for her but they'd always tell us to sod off (only more politely, as everyone that worked in Marks in Swansea was at least 80, or so it seemed as teenagers). We'd give up eventually and go to Benetton for a window shop and Eynons for a pasty.

Its not a rumour, its a fact. My friends mum also worked in M and S and they were colleagues.

Yeah, that was my kind of stuff -that's a superb track.
Loved Maiden back then and Metallica, the Cult, Faith no More, GnR, etc.

I was also partial to a bit of Marillion...

You were doing so well with the first two.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Closely followed by the Birmingham to Manchester track
