How much do you want, what thickness do you want or how big a piece do you want?

Many welding fabrication businesses around the area will have superfluous to requirement cut-offs that they tend to regard as scrap use only. You may find a lot of guillotined sheet metal in their scrap bins or in an outside skip(s) ready to be disposed of. You may be lucky and get exactly what you want for free?

I read a previous post and assumed you may have wanted a sheet or two that would be latter cut into separate much smaller pieces for repair jobs e.g. under car patch-up's.

You may already know what I write next, but I'll say it anyway just in case...... i.e. after looking at the same guillotine cut-to-size option with steel stockists? A welding fab workshop may be another (albeit at extra cost?) alternative if you want the sheets to be cut to a desired size i.e. if they do not come in your prefered (1m square ) size of choice.....

Cutting accurate straight lines with a grinder cutting disk on sheet metal is an absolute mare and will take up time with risk of a botch-up. Wherever you go specialist stockist supplier, workshop etc (to save time and hassle and risk of botch-up) if there is a guillotine-cut-to-size option ask for it, it' could be a Godsend in circumstances where you may want to be extra fussy?

Forgot to add.....Dyfed Steels is a mega-supplier for steel products in the locality (probably cheaper than your average stockist?) but I'm uncertain if they supply to non-business commercial concerns. Also the sheets they tended to supply came larger than 1m square size. But maybe worth a try if they can guillotine cut to a required size and deliver at the same time? *Point to note* Dyfed Steels sheets tend to be covered with a thin layer of oil to prevent rust, sometimes their stuff may require a wipe.

I suspect you know what you're talking about! Your use of gauge gives a hint. But nevertheless I elaborated otherwise with additional stuff in case it may be useful.

Forgot to add if you have anything supplied by many a large steel stockist supplier it tends to come by articulated flatbed lorry. May be out of the question?

Just a thought? What about this business in Gorseinon?

http://www.cylex-uk.co.uk/reviews/viewcompanywebsite.aspx?firmaName=bcc+stockhol

Apparently it manufactures its own roofing sheets? If thats the case the sheets would be cut, formed into a corrugated shape from flat sheet metal. I wonder if they can be of any use providing they have flat sheets there that are of plastic uncoated variety?
I Visited there many years ago (sat outside in a Nissan Cabstar outside whilst boss went in) and got the impression it's the type of place you may be able to call in and pay at the office desk.

Best of luck (shot in the dark stuff from me) pre-manufacture non-plastic-coated, ungalvanised and weldable sheet mild steel cut from a roll would be great because it should be protected within a roll free of scuffs and scratches. If they don't have it they may be able to suggest elsewhere?

Hoping to pop over on Friday , to have a gander, see if its ok to use, and if they"ll help me. I also had a look online and found a place in Hereford who will supply sheets of what the firm in Gors. manufacture, if the locals cant help.

I suspect the Gorseinon option could be a long shot but still worth a try. The place (maybe still does) used to have some of its its stock outside, I can't remember if they had any rolls that were of non-plastic-coated, non-galvanized, bare/basic mild steel type. I know the place would make stuff (other than sheets) to order like flashing for customers request/specification and that is something that does not always need to be plastic coated, galved and can be painted instead. Like you said it's getting pucker unblemished stock thats the problem. Sheets tend to get thrown off a lorry, scratched and dented without a second thought.

All the best in your search anyhow!
