both the Syrian regime and the Russians invited the inspectors to come in immediately after the chemical attack why they took so long is anybody's guess.
The reason for the delay seems to be security clearance and air strikes taking place in that area, it's only the British part of the Inspectorate seems to be whingeing, what's making matters worse is that idiot of A foreign secretary,Boris Johnson, going on TV and poking the bear with a big stick once more.
They should have got on the plane and flown there immediately. | |

But it is flatly untrue to state that Russia ' has rejected calls for an independent inquiry' and highly misleading to state that Russia had 'rejected Washington's call for an independent investigation' without also stating that it had made its own call for a *different form* of independent investigation. In my view this serious inaccuracy directly contravenes Paragraph 6 of the BBC Charter 'the BBC should provide duly accurate and impartial news, current affairs and factual programming' and Section 3 of the BBC's Editorial Guidelines 'The BBC is committed to achieving due accuracy.' None of that addresses the central question of why Syria and Russia have blocked inspectors from OPCW entering the site - OPCW is nothing to do with UN.

Wrong first the US asked for the reporting structure that had previously operated in Syria to be reinstated (or a new ones along the same lines). This is a mechanism that Russia and China have previously vetoed - Google it.
Russia proposed it's solution and this was vetoed - either through unsuitability or pique. | |
