I'm just watching this for the first time. Dear God. There's a heck of a difference in standard between this and the one on Sky Arts (which I love) isn't there? Some of these paintings look like they were done by a 10 year old (or by me, for that matter, but I wouldn't go on the TV to paint because I know damn well I can't).

If you've got Sky I think Mrs Builthjack will love the Sky Arts Portrait and Landscape Artist of the Year.
In comparison it's fantastic.

I don't have Sky so I'll have to make do with this.

And Mariella Frostrup is v easy on the eye.

I think that bloke Anil must be favourite to win it this year, despite being ripped to shreds by the Scottish judge tonight.

The one on Sky Arts is unbelievable. Quite a few of them are professionals, but there are lots of amateurs and they are incredibly good as well (quite frequently beating the pros).

The 'experts' and presenters are a right motley crew though aren't they?

What's the vicar doing there?

Don't be saying stuff like that Lisa, or I might be persuaded to go against my principles and start subscribing to the Murdoch empire!

Lol.

To be frank, most of their channels are utter crap so I wouldn't bother. I do like Sky Arts though.

He's too much of a media tart for me. I think if you decide to be a vicar you should stick to vicaring.

I personally think if you have a calling to the ministry, you can fulfil that in a number of ways. Making the clergy accessible and more 'modern' is valid.

I guess with his background, he's always going to be interesting to the media. He has a parish as well I think.

Probably the case. Although, in fairness, I suspect he's worth quite a bit more than the average vicar.
