My daughter completed the London marathon ...took her well over 4 hrs mind.

She enjoyed the wonderful experience and was completely overwhelmed by the encouragement given by the watching crowds, plus over £2,000 raised for charity, in this event everyone's a winner.

Brilliant stuff mate

My son said the same. He could not believe the encouragement given by the crowed, who lined the whole route.

He completed it in 4 hours 15 minutes. He was a bit disappointed, as he wanted a time of around 3:45, but think the heat played a big part in that.

Great effort to all who even attempted it.

Well done to everyone that completed it yesterday, very tough conditions no matter what time you are aiming to finish in

And massive respect to those that raised £000s in the process

I ran the first Welsh Marathon in 1982 - 4 hours 52 mins 18 seconds..
That was the longest most gruelling exilliarating 18 seconds of my life.

Lets be nice, we're all newbees on here.

I was there to watch my son and had to walk to three different viewing points. In intense heat. Hit my 10,000 steps with a bit to spare. Very proud of myself. My son ran it in 2.47 but he's young so it was all about me really.

2.47 ? In that heat ? Blimey. Worth 2.30 on a normal day. Seriously fast running. I think I am capable of maybe 3.30, but that's on a different planet.

Wow

Just read that a guy off master chef died during the run yesterday. Young healthy chef who ran the Manchester marathon a few weeks ago. Very sad

Temps were too hot.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.

I went up to watch. It’s a day of contrasts - crowds running, crowds watching, crowds on the tube, crowds queuing for the loos, but it’s a great day and that moment you see the runner you are supporting is absolutely euphoric.

I know a bloke from Swansea, up supporting his daughter, who saw her at mile 10 retching and about to give up (she’s had rotten luck with illness and injuries so had barely trained) so he vaulted the barriers and ran with her until jumping back into the crowd just before the finish line.

He looked shattered at the end but what a bloody star.
