Just had a Microsoft screen pop up saying I've been attacked by a Trojan virus and that my personal details copied and saying that I need to phone the number on the pop up page so that their engineers can talk me through a process to eliminate the virus,
Also said that if I ignore or turnoff puter they'll report my ip address because by me doing nothing it could damage their system.
It seems to have gone now, I ignored the warning figuring that it wasn't kosher.

Provided you have switched on "Restore Computer To an Earlier Time", then do this.
Also delete any programs (software and hardware) you may have loaded recently.
On your Search engines delete history and reset any cookies and cache settings.
Also if you have a program such as U Torrent delete these.
Also worth going through your downloads (especially recent ones) and deleting any that are not needed.
Run your anti virus program to scan for any potential threats.
If in doubt take your device to a reputable computer expert to check out for you.
Also assuming you do online banking, make sure you have the protection offered by banks such as Santander as an extra layer of protection.
Goes without saying never open any email links you do not recognise - if it is important and genuine they will always try again.
Very unlikely that any damage actually done.

I know it's a scam so of course you don't reply, etc.
However, it doesn't mean that somehow a nasty hasn't got onto his computer and won't cause problems such as a white or black screen , freezing leading to repeated screen dumps, etc.
If Max has the knowledge and is just having a laugh then fine.
However, me spending five minutes passing on some helpful tips just in case he hasn't is a good thing, don't you think ? | |

I tried that Phil, on the stroke of Midnight after a previous similar event and it worked, but not so lucky this time, maybe I needed a bigger coat hanger although with Global warming and the environment the way it is perhaps the process has changed to a coat hanger made from recycled components, unfortunately I didn't have one readily available 
I'm definitely gonna seek some new Coat Hanger's its just not worth taking the chance,  | |

Me and computer knowledge are miles apart, it seems ok this somorning, I run Advast scan and all seems fine, rotten bastards about though trying to fuk folk up.
