For all those who have said over the past few seasons and have had their wish:
One of Shrewsbury, Rotherham or Scunthorpe to relish when they come up via the Play Offs.
Too gutted to have looked at who else we will be playing

Our natural level is likely around League 1. We should still be playing in the Premier League however. How we managed to weaken our side so drastically from the end of Laudrup's tenure to now, despite spending tens of millions more on wages and splashing out £15m on players like it is routine is baffling.

I still can't believe we have 30M worth of players out on loan, just says it all.

Indeed.
When we were frugal we were more succesful.
As soon as we started spending silly money on overpriced players, things started going wrong.
I wondervwho's fault that was ?

“Baffling” incompetence. HJ and the board took full control of recruitment ect when Laudrup left.

Not baffling is it. Look no further than Huw Jenkins.

Just knowing who we are.. we're not mugs, similar in history to Bristol City & them down the road.

100 years in the Football League almost.. spent most of our time in the league we're currently in..

So this is most definitely our level.

You obviously weren't around in the 70's.

When in the old 4th and 3rd divisions there was endless talk on planet swans (EP letters page) about getting back to our natural home in Div 2. Nobody even thought about Div 1, until Tosh arrived.

This is absolutely true. Things have changed though.
We have spent lot of time in the Championship and Premier League recently and now have a top class statdium (even if a tad too small) and facilities to back it up.
We have as much right to Premier League Status as any in the Championship and at least half a dozen already in the Premier League.
Small town thinking will be our undoing. Instead of some so called fans ( not you ) belittling us we need to get back on a professional footing so we can move forward. We sure as Hell ain't on one now.

Natural level?
Odd concept.
Seems we re referring to old time big name clubs.Wolves,Villa,Arse,United,Blackburn,Preston..depends how far one wants to go back.

Our natural level SHOUlD be premier league as we got there, consolidated but then utterly screwed up the progress.

It's unnatural to think of natural level and we are where we are .

Never think back, always look forward

We have spent 7 years in the prem of which this years prem was the easiest to survive with the bottom half side almost on a par but our recruitment was shocking.

And you think we are a L1 team based on what?

I ll help dwight.

If you re 70 plus then the Championship second level ,is our natural position ,as we were mainly always on there .

If you're 50 s en possibly the third or fourth level.

If you re teenage ,then surely natural spot is or should be where we are or were ,Premier League

If you are referring to my OP, you do realise by putting "natural level" it was a dig at those who seemed as if they wanted us relegated for a whole host of reasons ?
if not, then sorry carry on
