Given a job to make a bunch of hoofballers play football and sacked after a small number of games. Carlos tried playing hoofball with a bunch of footballers here. De Boer is far more suited to our setup or at least how our set up was until recently.

It was the worst start to a season in premier league history.

De Boer on 17:24 - May 18 with 5258 views | Shaky | Spectacular failure at Palace, but on the other hand he came in to a club with a clearly defined style. The same can not be said here, and would be interesting to see if he could do a job with more of a clean slate. Furthermore he probably has access to some good on the cheap scouting resources. That said he wouldn't last 6 months with Jenkins still in the DoF chair.

And how many said they'd never want Hodgson down here (along with Sam / Moyes etc)?

It was but it was only 4 games. Palace panicked.

De Boer on 17:31 - May 18 with 5179 views | Jacket | A spectacularly poor appointment for Palace. I'd like to understand his thought process in taking the job. Did he not know a single thing about their squad? Did he look around him and think, here's a squad suited to total football. A mad appointment by the hierarchy, but he was even more bonkers to accept the job offer. You play system that suits the players, you cannot teach hoofers to play tiki-taka. The fact he thought he could do that, given their squad raises serious questions about his judgement.

Think he came in with a mandate to play an Ajax style passing game. But the management wimped out, after de Boer made no move to modify his uncompromising commitment to the passing game, even as they sank and remained rooted to the bottom of the table.

De Boer on 17:52 - May 18 with 4957 views | monmouth | He's a pass backwards wallah. Palace actually played better football under Hodgy. All this is so depressing. It is 100% clear now that Jenkins just got lucky a few times. Just a chancer.

FWIW the bookies have Potter well ahead of De Boer although Coleman is still favourite just.

Spot on. Also problem is that it seems Jenkins still wants the DOF / Head Coach relationship. People like De Boer won't touch us with that set up in place. Jenkins has to go or, at the very least, take a back seat and just keep an eye on the purse strings.

That was always going to happen. Injuries early doors didn't help Palarce, but when you look at the quality of players in their squad versus ours, we were miles apart.

Palace finished 11 points ahead of us. Had we beaten Stoke (twice) , Southampton, Brighton and Everton home we'd have finished above them. All those games were easily winnable with basically the same squad that beat Liverpool and Arsenal and ripped WHU apart down here. Lack of belief by the managers at vital times led to those defeats, not lack of quality. People talk about Palace as if they are Barcelona. A couple of defeats or if Zaha had been out more would have seen them sunk.

De Boer on 07:36 - May 19 with 3686 views | PawelAbbott | If we had beaten West Brom and Huddersfield away and Stoke and Southampton at home we would have finished easily in mid-table. That is the other teams in the bottom 5. We picked up 2 points from those 12 during the run in. We were useless for the last few months. Any manager capable of inspiring even a half decent performance would have kept us up.

but we didn't win those games, and Palace won theirs, hence they finished 11 points in front of us, deservedly so. Come on the season is over, time to put the straws down

IF we'd have beaten all the other teams as well, we'd have been champions not relegated. No fight for most of the season from our bunch of overpaid mercenaries. Abysmally sh1t leadership at the very top, from an interfering failed roofer- pity the b'stard hadn't fallen off the scaffolding really! Panic appointments. Jobs for the boys culture. Panic buys of players. Painfully thin and pretty useless squad. Dismantled playing style Sacked by Xmas Who in their right fukin mind would touch us except for the cash.
