So..Leicester spend 22.5 m on a RB.. 12:07 - May 20 with 2473 viewsomarjack

Don't know why I'm posting this..other than I'm extremely pissed off..

Leicester recognised their deficiencies last season (after finishing 9,oh no sooo bad..) and they have an owner and a board who give a sh!t about the state of the cub..

Now tbf Swans finances are not as big as Leicester's..But sticking all these years to f*cking Naughton hoping he'd magically turn into Roberto Carlos was f*cking stupid..We could have got Arias for 10 m last year and now he's going to play for one of the biggest teams in the world (Juventus).

..Meanwhile,Leicester sign Pereira, because they know if they stick to constantly injured Simpson they might find themselves in a similar trouble as ours one day..

In a nutshell,Kaplan,Levien,Jenkins,Donovan,The 28 and the ever-useless Trust..F*ck the lot of you :)

Leicester can spend big off the back of large profits from their Champions League exploits, whereas we cannot.

You’re spot on re us standing still with Naughton and a number of others for that matter. Quality of recruitment is one of the main things to have screwed us.

They're doing what they can to get to that next level. It wont last though and once they've spunked 100s of millions on players and still finish 8th or 9th then things will revert to type again for them.

Chelsea managed it and Man City but they've got 2 of the wealthiest families in the world financing them and can do it over a sustained length of time.

Fair play to them for having a go at it though.

We've sold players last season for about 68 m

Siggy:40 m
Llorente:13.5 m
Cork:8 m
Kingsley:3 m
Barrow:1.5 m
Gomis:2 m

(imo all right choices to sell)

if we spent:

Arias:10 m
some quality playmaker for about 20 m (not panic buy Andre Ayew in mid-season)
the 15 m spent on Clucas could have been spent on a better midfielder without a doubt, perhaps Tony Vilhena from Feyenoord..
Bringing Mesa was a mistake, but I admit I'd have not seen it coming..
Not to forget Bony's disaster..we could have spent 15 m on a decent,fit striker without a doubt.
Abraham's loan wasn't so bad imo coming from the bench..but Renato..blimey.

My point is..at least this year..we had money as well..we w@nkered it away..or misplaced it (by signing 3 CMFs and ignoring the RB position for example)

Everton seem to be consistent and doing really good..They're the perfect example of a successful mid-table club..historically.

Still..I don't really see Moshiri's end game here..I'm certain he's not making any profit off the club..and pushing for the Champions League is unrealistic.

With a midfield as bad as we had for much of last season apparently if we'd replaced Naughton everything would have been OK.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Even if we had not spent big, if the wasted money had been invested only marginally better we would have got a couple of players in who would have made sure that we obtained a few extra points that would have kept us up.

lol no..

But replacing Naughton with the right player would have been an improvement to the squad overall..and obviously Clucas,Sanches and Mesa were a waste of money (which is a different conversation)..we went down for a number of factors..not only the RB position f*ck up obviously.

Given how slim the margins were one better player anywhere on the pitch could well have seen us safe with weeks to spare.

Agree with this, what we lack is goals from strikers from midfielders goals win games, I’ve got no problem with us conceding as long as we score more than them, so for me naughtiness and right back would never have been a priority with so many gaps in attacking and playmaking positions.all teams must have a strong spine unfortunately were a few vertabrae missing.

If we're pointing the finger at fullbacks Olsson was a shadow of the player he was in 16/17. Naughton was far better than him all year.

Otherwise you're right. We were lacking in midfield all season, worse after Fer got injured. Had Ki kept going at the same level he did when he was angling after his next contract we may have survived, but as we all know he basically packed the season in after the window closed.

Chuck in Carroll plus a largely unimpressive Andy King with little else on the bench and you have the main problem. A midfield that provided neither cover for the defence or support and supply for the forwards. Watching us aimlessly lob it into the channels for either Ayew to chase against Southampton was utterly depressing.

Agree with the good doctor on some points .
However, spending money isn't the point, rather what we ve spent it on.

20 m for A Ayew doesn't seem too good a purchase as the 16 m for Clucas is best not mentioned whilst sober.

We need a chairman who spends wisely

The midfield is the beating heart of any team, our midfield hardly had a pulse, in other words a bunch of talentless over paid w£ nkers .

£70m or so says we’re were perfectly capable of spending. If the paper talk was true we’d also highlighted a need at full back. But then couldn’t get anything over the line for whatever reason (wages?, too small a club?). And then in a display of utter feckwittery, even though we knew we were short of full backs, decided to offload our backup LB.

We really do deserve to be relegated.

Or a chairman who keeps his fûcking beak out of footballing matters and leaves that to people who know what they're doing

We offloaded our backup LB expecting a LM (who also for some reason ended up playing DM) to cover.

Not our finest hour.
