The break up of the UK a step closer. 19:06 - May 26 with 5496 viewstrampie

After todays Irish abortion referendum it might well put the break up of the United Kingdom a step closer, a united Ireland will become more attractive to moderate people, staying in the EU is attractive to the majority in that part of the World with no hard border, Scotland nearly went a few years ago and they have a preference for being in the EU also, I remember the first Welsh Assembly result and what happened at the second time of asking, bookies were making it big odds on that Scotland would go the next time they are asked.
Wales is overrun by people from East of Offas Dyke but even those people might not like the way mother Ingerlund is going, a Monarchy in this day and age, unelected politicians in something called the Lords and even a state religion which puts England on a par with Haiti, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the Zionist state of Israel.

When did the welsh people ever vote for this ?

You are missing the fecking obvious fact that modern welsh nationalism is an inclusive, civic nationalism, it is not about being anti anybody.

Decisions about wales should be made in wales, by the representatives of the people of wales, for the people of wales.

Its not fecking hard. No nation that has gained independence from the British crown has ever asked to come back. I wonder why ? Not one.

You carry on living on your knees if you want, there is a more confident modern alternative. Feck your George Thomas.... 👍

No Wales won't be doing what the Irish did as the Welsh don't care enough to shoot people in the back or to bomb men women and children living in England

Welsh people want a more prosperous country not to be split from their main source of income.

You will not shut down reasoned debate on an independent Cymru by referencing the troubles in the north of Ireland over 20 years ago.

Do you think say ....America should still be run from London ?

We must grow up and make our own decisions.
Be really useful not to have to pay for Trident.
Or HS2 , or illegal wars, or Crossrail, or Heathrow expansion, or England railway network, or Brexit - see a pattern ?

Wales is not a kingdom as is the case with other of the Uk countries .its a principality and thus not represented on the union flag. It was annexed many centuries ago by England . It has English Law and it's parliament in England where constitution was made .

Things won't change constitutionally and will remain as they have been since the Tudors

Completely different as east of Offa's Dyke includes the groups you mentioned.
The problem, IMO, in the UK is no matter how anyone votes the government and everything the government does is decided by voters in England (all and every group).
Wales would probably stay with England because we've been a subservient 'nation' for so long and all our media is London / Manchester based so we are sold the Anglocentric view.
Scotland is much farther away from major conurbations in England and has a far more self reliant existence as does Northern Ireland.
I know a lot of people in the Republic don't want a united Ireland as they have no interest in adopting the 'fractious child' that is Ulster.
At least in the EU each country has equal input and right of veto.
There is no reason why Wales in the EU could not survive and thrive.

Wales couldn't survive financially ,certainly not socially .

Scotland is a nation.

Well said. The Welsh don’t want independence from England.
Let’s have a referendum and sort this issue once and for all.
Give Scotland one too.
People who don’t like the results, should then be sent free maps indicating where the airports/ferry ports are.

Being a principality does not mean it was / is any less than a kingdom.
A kingdom is ruled by a king.
A principality is ruled by a prince.
The Tudors were Welsh so Wales should by right rule England.
However, since then Scotland and Germany have ruled England via the Stuarts and Hanoverian lines.
Basically, using 600 year old statues to define modern border is ridiculous.
Where do you draw the line? Should Aquitaine hold sway over Parliament?
The Welsh Princes offered allegiance only not their lands.

Every country in the Eu has equal input ?
Are you crazy.
Do you think an independent Wales would have equal input as Germany and France do ?
Wales would have zero influence and told to get into line, or their funding will be cut.

Funding being the key word.

Wales would take of EU not put win.

With Britain leaving and Germans find they have to pay more tax to cover the shortfall caused by Britain leaving, I'm sure Germany et al will welcome more net beneficiaries.

I'm amazed Ireland are even still in the EU tbh. Voted against Nice treaty, told to vote again. I'd have thought they'd have been against the anti-democratic way of the EU.

Not that it's any of your business but majority of Irish people are content to stay in EU and that's all that matters. Same way it's none of my business that uk voted to leave EU. Is the EU perfect? In my opinion not by a long shot but we have benefited greatly from being in EU albeit we managed to nearly throw it all away though it's definitely a better place to live now and that's why it suits us to remain.
