Our Great Gower Coastline. 19:27 - May 29 with 3345 viewslifelong

Walked today from Oxwich, through Slade, to Port Eynon and back. How lucky are we to have such a beautiful area on our doorstep, it’s absolutely majestic.
One of the photos I took today is attached, it was quite hazy but very warm.
Some of the properties in the Slade and Horton areas are just magnificent.

£5 to park at Rhossili now and no ice cream van either so no oysters. Shocking.

We were down Rhossili yesterday. I could not believe the number of people taking their dogs out in this heat. Poor buggers looked really exhausted.

Yeah £5 all day to park and £2.50 for up to 3 hours, but you can't put a price on the scenery.

Thank you, goodnight and bollocks

Weather is key.
From the top floor of a meridian towers, last week,it was gloomy ,grey and brooding. We got up to watch the sunrise over Kilvey Hill and it was something .The former industrial power house in al it's glory .
Looking westwards ,Mumbles was shining like a star and as the tide was in ,it looked even better . Good enough to get up and swim in .

As soon as we reached the top of the Neath Valley it was damp, and brooding .

Most places look great on the sun and everyone is happier.

I hope these visitors put plenty of cash into local coffers and the council realise what a gold mine these events can be .Swansea has the setting and I d suggest,no offence meant, the denizens are eager to see a real upturn in profile and no NIMBY s stick their oars in

Floreat Swansea

The tourist economy is worth around £417 million a year. I believe a slight increase on last year.
The area is very weather dependant as you say, same as any other.
The council has a gem, and they know it, I just worry at times, they think its enough, not withstanding the economic situation, which brings its own issues.
The Biggest weekend should be a wake up call, this is what we've got folks, come a get it.

Also £5 to park at Oxwich.. I refuse to pay it and park elsewhere. Port Eynon is another place that annoys me, don’t park here, don’t park there, only park here if you’re a member of this club, or that.
Don’t launch your boat here, or there, again unless you are a member of a certain club. It’s £15 to launch your boat down there..it’s fecking crazy.

Well they should not as this doesn't even reach the sides.

Cardiff has huge profile and has better hotels ,city sights ,shops but it doesn't have Swansea s aesthetic beauty although the council ,to me,seem intent on destroying anything of architectural value.

Summer wise , Swansea can certainly kick arse with events like this and others ,maybe Shakespeare etc in the park with big name actors . A cultural centre . Get people in and get them to spend their money in the city centre . Make it happen.

Is £5 really a lot to park on a cliff overlooking one of the best beaches in the country? Especially when it’s less if you don’t want to stay all day or, time and fitness depending, you could park at Broughton or Hillend for less and stroll there.

It costs more than that to park in town.

It's easy money and motorists ,Roger aside, pay it albeit grudgingly .

Convenience is key especially with kids.

The revenue raised helps to pay for services needed on the area.

Locally here, all the car parks in the Country Parks and beauty spots are now pay and at least as much as that in rhosili . People winge but yesterday nearest one to us was full ,so council prove their point . I just expect the car parks to be maintained and monitored

Rhosilli car park is now National Trust so the profit gets reinvested.

The land cost them £3 million plus the costs to landscape.

Oxwich is privately owned by the Penrice Estate who spend the absolute bare minimum on its upkeep.

The coastline us stunning whatever the weather.

Cardiff would love to transplant itself down here, I must really p!ss them off, but never mind.
We can't compare the two, our development is very slow, but it is what it is.
It's taken 30 years to get where we are so far.
Cardiff has barely taken a decade, but we all know why.
But you know what, I'd take Swansea over Cardiff all day long.

That’s very good of you, every time I go to Rhosilli I normally park in the church car park and leave a donation in the box.
