Inspector Montalbano 13:26 - Jun 7 with 462 viewsdickythorpe

Just watched the first 2 episodes of the new series recently on bbc4. Quite entertaining and unintentionally funny in parts.
The Italians enjoy coffee and handshakes a lot!

I watched the last series mainly as it's lovely scenery and I m learn Italian.

However ,it really is not meant as a comedy as I thought so it makes the acting seriously pitiful. It's like a school play or Acorn Antiques but without the brilliant comic timing .

The main character never changes expression and his colleagues are pitifully putrid as actors .

The stories are not that good and there s little tension .

A better option is the belgian Rough Justice which is in Flemish and therefore indecipherable but it's better story lines and acting miles better .

I love all the classic old buildings and interiors and the laid back pace. The clown of the uniformed station sargeant somewhat spoils it for me.

Si.Quello e Lui.

I don't think it's meant to be a period piece notwithstanding Fiat Uno cars long since sent to the British scrap yards in the sky .
