An absolute masterpiece of a series, one of its main features being the interviews with the people who were actually there. The ones that stick in my mind are the Russian female soldier describing taking Berlin (always refers to the Germans as 'the fascists') and the Japanese civil servant who was present at the meeting when their war cabinet and the emperor were discussing whether or not to surrender (FFS) after the second atomic bomb. And of course good old Wynford Vaughan Thomas talking about his experiences as a reporter at Anzio.
