Is there much difference between that and HD?

I'm watching on normal BBC1, good enough for me that is.

How times have changed from a black and white portable eh.

Where does viewing technology go from here?

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

UHD 4K is 4x better the 1080, hence the name, no doubt there will be 5K, 6K in years to come.

I agree it’s all snobbery. It’s a bit like the music thing where people used to have to have the best deck etc for £5k more than your record player.

It may be 4 x better in technological speak, but there's no way it looks 4 x better through a normal set of peepers mun.

Tend to agree with this.

Not sure about the snobbery bit, but some people will fall for any new technological gadget and then tell everyone about it down the pub.

Mine is but I fully agree with Darran on this. Did a lot of research before buying the TV, only reason I went 4k was that there was no price difference at that point between 4k and 1080.

There's a calculator on line somewhere that shows the perfect screen resolution for any size of panel and distance from screen. It suggested that for my lounge I would need a 165" screen to see the full benefit of 4k. My 60" screen at just over 4 metres away will only just see benefit of 1080p over 720p.

The TV companies could have easily moved to 1080p for all broadcasts which would have been ample for 99.9% of people. That was never going to happen though as the technology companies needed something new after the 3D shambles.

My PC monitor on the other hand is 32" / 1440p and I love it. It gives just the right amount of screen real estate and is about 50cm from my head.

I’m a bit of a soft touch where technology is concerned too. We’re on CRT at the moment, but when the next valve pops we won’t replace it, no siree, we’re upgrading to UHT.

Sky have been doing various sports in UHD for a while now. There’s not a huge difference between UHD and bog standard HD in my experience.
