VAR Controversy AGAIN 19:15 - Jun 23 with 3032 views | westwalesed | I've seen some good decisions so far at the WC and some injustices righted. But how the feck that wasn't a foul on the Swedish striker just now and why that wasn't checked I have no idea. How is it decided if something is reviewed or not?

VAR Controversy AGAIN on 19:18 - Jun 23 with 2619 views | AndyNak | Was just saying the same. Also if the play is allowed to go on while they review it and Germany go up the other end and score is their goal then disallowed if they decide to give Sweden a penalty? Do they also add on the additional 4-5 mins lost while they review the incident/while Germany are playing? VAR is pointless if it’s not used consistently, it’s also annoying Bin

I can't say I haven't thought that as well. And another excellent point, what WOULD have happened had Germany scored there?

If the VAR had found it to be a penalty for Sweden then the a German goal in the same passage of play would be disallowed and play brought back.

Would the time between the incident and the review be added back on?

In exactly the same way as has happened in the rugby for years now. Why is everyone finding this so confusing?

Agree. Just look at how many penalties we've had this year that referees wouldn't have had the bottle to give otherwise. Even if it's not 100% it's a great improvement in "getting it right"

Except of course it has now "officialised" wrestling to the ground of an attacking player during set pieces as being OK. Even by 2 defenders, let alone 1.

VAR still comes down to the opinion of the officials. Not everyone will agree with every decision but it has proven to be immensely important already in the tournament. The amount of fouls in the box that go unpunished normally is criminal. Also in the Neymar situation the other day, pens can get overturned. We could have done with it a few times last season.
VAR Controversy AGAIN on 12:41 - Jun 24 with 2092 views | BillyChong | There was a delay in a game a couple of nights ago whilst a ref went to review an incident on the screen. What’s the point when there’s a group of refs watching it off the pitch to advise? Not convinced by it.

To be used in future tournaments then there must be a much quicker response to any disputed incidents. The players acting up and diving and crying to the ref for the most trivial of reasons certainly does not help the situation

Any player signalling to the ref for Var, or signalling for an opponent to be booked, should receive a yellow card. No warnings, straight yellow!!

VAR Controversy AGAIN on 21:26 - Jun 25 with 1722 views | majorraglan | I believe that VAR is a positive development, but it certainly has its teething issues at this moment in time. In addition to some of the calls, surely something has to be done about the diving and play acting we are regularly seeing. It's not just the World Cup, we are seeing it in the Champions League especially with some of the teams from the Iberian peninsular. [Post edited 25 Jun 2018 21:27]

VAR Controversy AGAIN on 21:30 - Jun 25 with 1709 views | phact0rri | Since its introduction I've been all in VAR. But the amount of penalties in WC has been atrocious. Some are blatantly incorrect, and others are quite soft indeed. If this is what VAR turns the sport into, I'd rather not have it at all.
