Ash was a very good player and leader for the club for a number of years, than cannot be denied. I personally think he is past his best. Could he do a tidy job in the Championship, probably as it’s not as high a standard as the PL, however I doubt very much it would be at Swansea City.
The current focus at Swansea City will be on reducing the wage bill because the club’s turnover/revenue is going to be cut significantly with the loss of TV Rights money, the parachute payments will be have of what the club is used to receiving so the cloth has to be cut. Outgoings in terms of wages need to be cut and I suspect transfer fees will be used to balance the books and an element of rebuilding the squad. That’s before any dividends or consultancy fees are paid out to the owners.
Other clubs are going to try and sign Swansea’s best players, not many will want the dross so it’s not a surprise Fernandez is being linked with a move. | | | |
