No, because he obviously wasn’t up to scratch. It wasn’t a case of bedding in and getting used to his teammates. He just wasn’t physically capable of playing that role.
We saw it to an extent with Tammy last season, he was a talented player but just got bullied as a lone front man, so eventually got relegated to impact sub. At least he could hold his own to an extent, Borja didn’t even have that. Tammy at least kept battling. He got frustrated and petulant, but he kept trying. Borja just went into his shell.
Just like Mesa, he is probably a very talented footballer who was bought with no consideration of how he was going to fit into the way the manager wanted to play. I find it frustrating and disappointing, but not odd anymore, I’ve become more used to it over the last couple of seasons. |  | |  |
