BREAKING NEWS on SKY NOW . . .
Sam Clucas’ proposed move from Swansea to Burnley has fallen through, Sky Sports News understands.
An £8m move had been agreed between the two clubs, but the player has failed to agree personal terms.

He obviously went for the money and it's backfired so now we should surely back the Manager and go and get Woods anyway as he looks a quality player. i still we need another Striker too as we need firepower this Season as it will make all the difference to where we end up .

You'll never, ever see me ganging up on a player everyone slates.

I didn't like Wardrobe, I thought he was as stiff as board but others liked him. He was popular.

My posts relating to his lack of ability were never likely to cause him to be Boo'd coming on or going off. And giving a critique on a player does not constitute the witch hunt bullying we see on some of our targeted players.

You are exaggerating this supposed ‘poison’ directed at Clucas to suit your own agenda. There were a few groans directed his way on less than a handful of occasions when he jumped out of a tackle, nothing viscous towards him though. He’s overrated and we paid too much for him. He couldn’t deliver what was expected of him and he went into his shell and hid during games. He was figured out by the fans and did not have the character or ability to win them over once he knew his card was marked.

Who are the clubs that are interested in him?

If he doesn't go in this window, as long as he gets his head up and works on the pitch then we may benefit from that. He needs to do that if he wants another club in January.

You don't appear to be on Twitter. Some of the stuff he's been tagged into is embarassing and says more about the people posting it than him.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Have Burnley dodged a bullet here? Dyche does his homework on a player's character, so must think Clucas is OK off the field.

He’s a good sailor in calm seas. If the team was playing quite well, he’d play quite well. If we were crap, he was crap though. He’s obviously got some form of backbone, he’s got himself to the PL the hard way. This is the important part though, he could not handle going from underdog to top dog.

I'm not keen on 'utility' players at this level. It's so last week. For 16m you sign a specialist role player not someone who played a different position almost every other game and was always bang average in nearly every one.I'm not saying that's his fault but when a club forks out 16m then you expect more than what we got.

Cut or losses if we can move him on and let Potter have a go at bringing in someone else.

No, you.just prefer to slate players that keep the club in the premier league like Siggy and llorente.

Most are skating clucas because he's rubbish for the money, you were skating players who made the club a fortune and earned the respect of supporters in doing so.

It's not Sams fault he's got one of the best agent's in world football, but having watched his awful season with us to then see him be berty big balls and stiff a move to a prem club knowing we are desperate to off load, well, it says a lot for me .

He's not on anywhere near 50k a week here more like 20k a week, my guessing is Burnley will offer the same and he wanted more.

I wouldn't move to be on the same money elsewhere either. Only a complete f*cking idiot would. Ah right, never mind...

I don't agree that he's a utility player. He's been used that way to very, very poor effect, because he's an extremely limited footballer.

A capable £16m utility player wouldn't have been a bad buy.

So you.wouldnt move to a premier league club that's playing in Europe putting yourself on the world's biggest stage at the same time for the same money ??

Ambition eh, who needs it? Obviously not clucas..or you.

He is 28. Came into football late.

Only played at the top level for the last couple of years where he was among the lowest paid in the PL at 7.5k a week. For the last 12 months he was earning 25k a week with us.

If he moves somewhere now it will probably be his last move as a player at prime age before essentially retiring in maybe 5 years time. If you wouldn’t be making sure you can sort yourself and you’re family out for life in the last few years then you are a liar.

Most of Burnley's regular first-teamers are on £45k a week. Low by PL standards but not too bad.

There are good incentives for league position etc.

Eh?

You reckon he can live the next 60 years of his life and sort his family out for the remainder of theirs - for 600k after tax??

10k a year?

Really?

I don’t see many McDonalds workers paying off their parents mortgage.

He is in a very short profession where he can sort himself and his family out for life COMFORTABLY. You think he should forego that because you don’t like him?

Ok.

How are you getting £600k after tax from £25k per week?

I don’t see any McDonald’s employees earning a year what Clucas earns in a week.

He is in a short profession but he’d already have earnt a decent amount at 7.5per wk (if that’s what it was) I’d hazard a guess it was more than that in the PL with Hull.

He could sort his family’s future from one seasons pay from the swans, not on the basis he didn’t play before us or after us obviously but you knew what I meant.

P.s. who said I didn’t like him?

Clucas staying would be superb. Clucas with a playmaker behind would be a strong set up. Need goals from midfield. Clucas will get 5 or more. As will Fer. if we keep Clucas could move on Carroll and Fulton. Dhanda and the other new guy look good enough to improve the goals scored.

It’s a rough estimate, it will be around 670k. Enough to buy a very modest family house in London with nothing to spare.

7.5k although a decent amount, is still not enough to retire on - which is the goal being a PL footballer.

Like I said, being a PL footballer gives you a realistic chance of retiring in your thirties living extremely comfortably and sorting your family out in the process. So that 7.5k a week has to essentially equal the weekly pay he would get for the next 50 years of his life after retirement.

So if you were to work a year on 7.5k a week before retiring, it would be equivelant after tax to about £100 a week.

Nice.

£25,000 x 52 = £1.3m

Less majority on 45% Tax @ £585,000

= £715,000

Less NI and other deductions I'm guessing it wouldn't be far off numbnuts
