Parachute payments + Championship "revenue" 11:10 - Aug 9 with 1570 viewsjack_lord

Curious.

We get £40 million revenue this season from PP's. That is separate to all other income.

We have sold Mesa, Mawson, Fabianski, Bartley and got loan fees for the Ayew "twins" Baston and a number of big earners have left, retired or returned to their parent clubs.

How much revenue on top do we get from the Championship that will see us still strggle financially, especially if players have relegation clauses?

I think we get around 40 m in parachute payments + 6-7 m from usual championship broadcasting rights in the 1st year (47 m)

And your question makes zero sense.

because a large percentage of income in the premier was players wages. We have got rid of most of the high earners. We have sold players.
We receive PP's to cover things like the high earners and we still receive additional income in the Championship.
Why are we pleading poverty?

I've made this analysis few months back..I'll post it again..with comparisons between the last season and projections for this one.

INCOME: (without considering profit from players sales)

From the official figures for 2016/2017 we can see the following breakdown of income:

TV money:109.3 £
Matchday:7.4 £
Commercial:7 £
Merchandise:2.6 £
Other:1.4 £

TOTAL:127.7 £

Estimate of Swansea City FC income for the 1st year in the Championship:

TV money:50 £ (1st year of parachute payments)
Matchday:4 £ (decrease of more than 40%)
Commercial:2 £ (UK bet sponsor deal expected to be on the low side)
Merchandise:1 £ (significant decrease)
Other:1 £

TOTAL:58 £

EXPENSES: (without considering player registrations)

In the official accounts for the year 2016/2017:

Wages:98.6 £ (Salaries at 87.4 £...Social security costs at 11.2 £)
Other expenses add up to around:28 £

TOTAL:126.6 £

Estimate of Swansea City FC expenses for the 1st year in the Championship:

Wages:It's almost impossible to tell,But with relegation clauses that vary from 50-66% for most of the squad,With most of the big earners to go and to be replaced with small earners. I think it's safe to say the wage bill will be trimmed by about 30-35 £..Therefore:

Wages:around 68 £ ?
Other expenses:around 20 £ (many luxuries and developments will halt for sure which will reduce costs)

TOTAL:88 £

Income - Expenses = 58 - 88 = - 30 £ (The amount of money the club needs to save in theory in sales in order to break even)

Clearly there are many details that are omitted, like debt and other factors that I'm not an expert on. These are obviously aren't facts. But I thought it's worth some sort of an amateurish analysis.

Now back to the present..The board needs to save up close to 30 m in sales this year in order to break even..

We also have a cash flow problem..which is something I'm not an expert on..but I think the parachute payments get paid later on so at the moment we're using the money we received from Mawson's sale and others to keep afloat.

Wilf's taking up half a team's worth of wages all on his own.

Although a year out of date, the Swiss Ramble thread on the last set of accounts shows what we're up against. Our wage bill for last year was about £90m for reference.

Because this summer before the player sales started the club had debts of probably around £85 million.

I get the thing with Bony's 5 million wages. I lot has been covered by insurance but obv once he is fit to play it is a lot but my point is that the other players who are taking huge salaries have gone (for now) reducing our wage bill by a lot.

The debt stood at £67.6 million last summer. That's a fact.

Feel free to come up with your own guess about what happened in the following year.

Is it an accounting fact?
Last year was the biggest shambles in player transfers I have seen and HJ is miraculously still DOF.

I don’t quite understand how you get to £65m for this season

Say £20k a week translates to £1m a year - you then had about 15 to 17 players around the £20k mark which would be say £20m Plus Bony £5m Plus the rest another £5m.

Maybe you then have to add Employers NI of another £5m.

So is it more like £35m - from your figures?
