What happened yesterday is actual embezzlement. 09:13 - Aug 10 with 4045 viewsomarjack

If it happened to any other business than owning a sport club, Kaplan and Levien would be serving up to 15 years in max security prison. But since it's a sport club they can always plead "selling assets for structuring reasons" bla bla bla..

But they won't get away with it this time.

Agreed.

After the transfer window is now firmly shut,it s very apparent we are just a skin and bones squad with no depth...a few injuries and we are screwed later in the season through lack of depth. Makes me sick seeing the other relegated teams like Stoke reinforcing their squad big time.

I just hope I m wrong and these players can pull it off,but 45 games to go is a long way unless we can re stock in the next window.

The transfer window isn't firmly shut. Lee Evans signed for Wigan on an effectively permanent loan-to-buy deal today. Three weeks before Championship squads are finally sorted.

We could only afford to offer Woods “loan to buy” if we went up at the end of the season apparently... therefore we don’t have a pot...

Well no doubt the loan targets have been identified for a while Jasper, with Potter’s full backing. What could possibly go wrong?

Surely you have to understand that a club that has seen massive profits in the last two years, to go into a competitive league fixture with 1 centre halve is scandalous?

rather than too many histrionics about current (in)activity, my question would more be what benefits the original sale actually has to the development/next level etc of the football club?

if it was simply about finding a prudent set of investors that would ensure we ran a sustainable (and by definition of our size low budget) ship (and still find ways for them to provide some sort of return to their group) then am guessing the fanfare from jenkins and co at point of sale might have been a little more muted.

sense the sellers our end raised the expectations, and the difficulty in swallowing that may be evidenced in some of the posts today. wondering if there would have been a better ownership group either last season or indeed now that might have provided an alternative strategy during the last few transfer windows/seasons.

yes, we are where we are etc doesn't stop those been angry in considering whether we could be where we are with a different set of owners - possibly better? and I guess by definition, possibly worse? I like to think there were better options out there though, and perhaps jenkins and co could have done more, so a pretty reasonable reaction to think it best if he were not there now.

every chance that as a club we will be run sensibly, no guarantees on the pitch, there never are .. sense we won't hear too much from the US now unless we make that unlikely second coming. perhaps this wouldn't have been the reason they invested either, but guess from their perspective now we are mothballed unless history manages to repeat itself?

The initial sale of the club was designed to cash in the shares of the original owners. Nothing more. Any public statements to the contrary can easily be ignored for the bullshit they are.

As for yesterday, the need to get high earners off the books whilst they still retain some value was obvious. There was a £50-60m hole in our finances that needed plugging. Doing anything else would have put the long term future of the club at risk.

Of course, as Jenkins possesses the haggling skills of Brian of Nazareth (obvious since Daniel Levy pulled his pants down in 2014) we ended up loaning a pile of them out or selling them cheaply when larger cash offers were made a matter of days before. That incompetence alone should see him sent packing, but it still won't happen.

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

My understanding is the window closed yesterday for new signings in the Prem and Championship leagues.

However, new business can be done in the Championship up until 31st August... but only for loans.
