People would be better off in work and not having to claim benefits, we should not have to be subsidising workers wages who are working for massive firms who are making millions and millions who pay some of their workers a pittance.

Just come back from the States and was really surprised at the number of older people who were working out there, in some places most of the workers were in their 60s and 70s. I think we are going to see major changes in this country going forward as the value of people’s pensions decrease retirement age goes up more people will be working for longer. Also, wth house prices continuing to rise, people will have to borrow more if they want to buy a property which will then take longer to pay off.

These days it seems that this barely gets a mention in msm, even though we all know the stories of Atos and crapita

The figures are compiled by the ONS (Office of National Statistics) The ONS is UK's largest independent producer of official statistics and the recognised national statistical institute of the UK. They figures they produce are not Government figures ,Conservative figures, or Labour figures. The ONS is independent of government and was set up to prevent either Conservatives or Labour from manipulating statistics.
