Rodon will too (attract attention) but going on the current plan if Fer and VdH want too much money, taking all things into account) the owners might decide it's more "financially prudent" to let them leave rather than hand out expensive contracts and then not be able to sell. They might decide we can only afford one of Fer/VdH?
We've already been warned there will be more book balancing so maybe the mantra should be hope for the best but prepare for the worst? |

Roberts and Rodon are on way less cash than their importance would usually demand. Need to get them both locked down for a few years asap.
To increase their potential transfer value if nothing else.

Pretty sure that is the case. If Bony is off loaded, then that would be a £5m saving and the club COULD sign 10 players at £10k per week which is slightly higher than the Championship average salary- I am not saying they would though!
2 years ago the average Championship salary was about £6k per week, from information on line it looks like Villas players have an average salary of approximately £25 to £30k.
It would be far from ideal if some of the players who are now breaking through decided to move on, but that is beyond our control. Personally, I would like to see Roberts, Rodon, VDH and Fer offered new deals. | | | |

Realistically, I don't see Fer and Olsson agreeing a new contract with a wage cut. And Narsingh would be as good as gone obviously. And I don't think many will object, including the player himself of course. Bony is a goner obviously. these are around 175k/wk in wages
What should happen:
Roberts and Rodon should be bumped to 15-20k/wk each.
VDH should be bumped to 25k/wk
As for Grimes, Routledge idc..run their contracts and f*ck them off.
And we'll still have enough to give 20k/wk contracts to replacements for Fer and Olsson. And still save around 100k/wk in wages.
What will happen:
VDH gone, alongside Fer, Olsson, Narsingh and Bony obviously.
Roberts gone. Rodon to be tied up. Grimes as well. Fer and Olsson to be replaced by academy players on minimal wages.
Routledge? he'll accept a wage cut out of desperation and be like a new signing. |  |
