Is this an example of gross stupidity? Should we be protecting our heritage whatever the cost? Can we afford the upkeep of old, unsafe buildings that aren't fit for purpose?

The WAG gave it listed status after the council put it down for demolition, the high court overruled them but the WAG intervened again, they reckon this old school has special architectural interest, I'm not sure what that is because it looks like any one of many red brick schools still being used.....which should be ireelevant anyway, can we afford to keep paying for expensive, out of date heritage vanity projects when we can't fund the NHS, Police and (ironically) schools properly? |  |
