agree... does so well in running and getting in a good position for a cross... but struggles to cross.. that is the only part of his game i get a little frustrated with. but it has been the case for our wingers to be like that for a long time. He can improve on it though. | | | |

Similar but not quite as complete a player as Bale - left back moved to full back in the Championship.

Naughton as RB with Roberts given more freedom to go forward isn't a bad idea at all.
After all, None of our wingers, despite being many, have succeeded in cementing a guaranteed start. Asoro underwhelmed, James is not very experienced, McKay isn't anything special. Montero is brilliant but as we all know he's always injured, Dyer and Routledge are past it.

We look better with him on the wing because he covers a lot of ground, gets stuck in defensively, and his movement has always been pretty smart in the final third, but it's not his best position.
Isn't going to beat defenders one on one very often, not much of a cross on him (especially on the move) and isn't a natural finisher (getting better, though). Completely different situation to Bale who was always limited as a fullback but was scoring worldies in youth teams. | | | |

Not sure Connor's willingness to play in different positions is in his best interest, great for us but no him.
Imo he's not going to develop as a full back, wing back or wing.
In January I'd bring Rangel back, play Naughton in midfield where he's been far better value than at full back.
Play Connor as wing back with three CBs away from home and as a wide midfield player with Angel behind (in a 4 man defence) at home. | |
