It has been my opinion that the academy was a waste of time in the EPL and didn't provide value for money, however the academy is now the jewel in the crown. It's given us a young squad of good footballers who know each others game, that with some good buys from Potter and it's all good.
Of course not all our young players came all the way through our system, we pinched some from other teams. |  |

Peene's had another Regi Blinker, but I agree with his overall approach. We're unique in that we have a big catchment area with little competition. As long as a proper plan is used (which doesn't include the tail wagging the dog in the form of pushy parents or Jenkins deciding which players get to go on loan) then it's a good investment |  |

Too early to make judgements on the academy imo. The kids coming through now were either bought in, or spent most of their development in the CoE. The biggest factor in their emergence is relegation from the PL. Players like Gwion Edwards may have broke through here if we were a Championship team when he hit maturity |  | | |
