The Four worst Swansea signings from the last 5 years.... on 13:03 - Oct 13 by Johnw102
Can't believe nobody has mentioned Schekter, got to be right up there with the best (worst) of them.
Shechter was only on loan to us from FC Kaiserslautern which probably only cost us about £100k. Ok, he wasn't very good and only scored 1 goal in 18 appearances but there must be dozens of players we've signed permanently for vast sums of money who have probably contributed about the same or less but must represent much lower value for money and surely class as much worse signings which is what this thread is about. If the thread was bout the worst players, you may have a point.
Likewise N'gog who was only with us for 4 months after joining for an undisclosed fee from Bolton which probably wasn't very much so he wasn't exactly a big drain on our resources. A poor quality signing certainly but rather than being one of our worst signings, I'd put him among one of our most irrelevant.

At the time N'Gog was on a relatively massive wage for us.

Yes, but only for 4 months during which he only played 3 games. It's all relative. Baston has been our player for over 2 years during which he only started 4 times plus 14 substitute appearances scoring once. He cost us £15.5 million and would have been paid far more than N'gog was paid during his 4 months. And we're probably still paying part of Baston's wages ffs even though he hasn't even been near Swansea for about 18 months. An absolute train crash of a signing by any criteria.

Canas played in what was our club’s greatest ever win. If they played in that game then you can’t be included in the worst signing in the last 5 years.
3 of that 4 came after the DoF had promised a review of transfer policy after the previous disasterous season. Clearly he meant that we hadn't quite been crap enough previously
