This fake outrage and manufactured offence does not solely belong to political correctness.
I can remember The Exorcist author saying many whom proclaimed offence when the movie was shown were not really affected at all, not in the slightest.... but loved the drama of being offended whilst getting an ego-boost from pointing out (*cough, cough, cough*) offence.
Johnny Rotten said the same thing about gruff foul mouthed councillors who banned The Sex Pistols from Anarchy tour venues.

The program was eventually shown and due to the publicity, nearly everyone watched it. It was nothing really.

Yeah, she really shot herself in the foot there! Many people sort of wised up to the fact her headlining stunts seemed more about herself than it ever was about her fake outrage.....Fake outrage?.....
