If he had been able to get some experienced players in he would have been ok, this season would be very hard even for an experienced Championship Manager, but an experienced Championship Manager wouldn't have accepted such a poor squad !!!

I'll be amazed we're not in with a shout of the play offs at least by the end of the season

We've played two of the top 3 in 3 days. We're rightly using constructive criticism but let's point that obvious fact out as well. We won't play the quality we've played these last few days very often.

And I have to laugh, some posters are laughing at others for saying Brum were the only team that battered us when I know for a fact he doesn't watch the Swans. It's on in the background but he's too busy writing absolutely drivel on his iPad or playing Solitaire.

Don't be fooled by a wind up merchant. Ignore.

You'll be amazed then, more chance of bottom half unless there are changes and additions to the squad in January. it's a long season and its the squad that is most important not the first 11.

You are right that no experienced decent manager would have wanted the job

I would like to know the truth in what Potter was offered and then obviously didn’t get to take on the job.

Surely he didn’t take on the job knowing what was in front of him, or did he underestimate how difficult the Championship was going to be and thought he could manage to create miracles

We've got good players, not having that we've got a poor squad at all.

There are gaps and certain players not suited to the manager's style, but that's the same situation 23 other Championship teams are facing. Everyone is "three or four players from really challenging" if you listen to their supporters.

We will never know, it took too long for us to get him in then he had limited time to get players in and out. I would imagine he thought he would have been able to get more experienced players in, and was disappointed with the squad, but is doing his best with young players.

It was a big job for him and he obviously wanted to show the World what he could do, so far he's done quite well, but it will be a long hard season if he is not supported in January!!!

Good young players but not enough experienced Championship battlers and not enough strength in depth, time will tell when we get to Christmas and the season starts to take it's toll just as the games start to come around even quicker!!!

Of course, every supporter would want four more, but we need them far more than most in the top half.

Would you not say the season is already taking its toll on some players

There’s a hell of a jump up from playing in the under 23’s to playing in the Championship

It’s like youngsters doing maths at school, that after getting maths at “O” level finds it hard to do the step up to “A” level

Physics is only applied maths, so how did you find it difficult if you were any good at maths

Perhaps you were no good at maths after all

I think most of us were happy with staying up, then being mid table, then a potential play off place !

I think reality is sinking in a bit but at the same time I've honestly yet to see a team that has impressed me or a team that has totally out played us, Birmingham away is the exception.

The amount of stupid mistakes and crap set piece defending and woeful blunders week after week is the only thing stopping us from being right in the promotion mix, the only question is that we must hope it's just teething problems not terminal with pressure and confidence eroding away.

It's a strange division and I think we can't view it like the prem league, we could lose the next 6 games and still win the league ! I think its important to keep some perspective even though it's frustrating as fook at the moment .

The only things stopping us being in the play offs.......

On a par with 'What else have the Romans done for us'!

Spot on, too slow across the park. When Grimes mixed it up last night and went direct we caused them a problem and scored. Celina should be doing that more often.

Grimes HAS to be first pick as CDM until we get a specialist in. Fer is a liability there

To rely on Grimes for that central midfield position for the rest of the season is a big ask

I just can’t understand in why Swansea didn’t pay that £500k for Ryan Brooks instead of wasting £2.3 million on Asoro

Brooks without a doubt would have made a big difference to Swansea’s fortunes this season, as what I saw in the last 15 minutes of each half in Stokes game against Derby on Wednesday night

I agree with you that Fer is a waste of time

It’s no good that a player like Fer only gets 1 good game in 10

Agreed they are already feeling it, and as the season progresses without reinforcements, they will fade further, we need a healthy balance of youth and experience.

Woods.

And it wasn't "an extra £500k" that was the sticking point, his eventual £7m pricetag was twice what we were willing to pay.

£2m on Asoro is looking like poor business. Big investment in future "potential" given our current state.

We were never in for him in my opinion, I do believe Potter was taking for a ride with that one. Does anyone genuinely believe Brentford would have taken the bait for £3.5m? Their chairman is known for making sure they bet maximum value.

I’ve grown to accept it wasn’t in our best interests to sign, but we are short in that position and it shows. We remain competitive though which is all we can ask for.

As for Asoro, too early to judge yet in my opinion.

Yes you are right it was Woods what the name should have been

That extra money for Woods will be peanuts if the Swans are relegated or even if they had any thought they had a chance to return to the Premier League

Watch whether Stoke get to the playoffs or even automatic promotion after their relatively poor start, as without a doubt one of the reasons will be that they brought in a player like Woods

Yes I know that Stoke is owned by someone with a lot of money, but no one can say that Woods was a big spend player

The Americans admitted to believing that Brentford would slash the price on deadline day to to player pressure, like we did. It was a silly thing to think as Brentford's financial situation is the opposite of ours, but I don't believe "we were never in for him".

Rather we were never in for him at a price where it was realistic we might get him, especially with other clubs interested.

Stoke have to get promoted after the business they've done. They made a £30m loss last season with Premier League money, and have kept spending.

For them it wasn't much of a gamble as they're already in so deep. Better for us to be getting the house in order and giving the kids a chance. We weren't spending £7m on players last time we were in this league.

Really don't know what to make of GP at moment. Bad results at home lately, but then in some games have felt playing better than I expected. Still think at least play offs possible with hopefully good MF coming in Jan transfer window etc.

But it seems as if we didn’t have a plan b. Which is crazy, said so at the time, and we’ve had to rely on a right back playing CDM.
