Cancer 22:20 - Dec 5 with 7150 viewsGowerjack

I've been posting on here for years and made some friends and a few foes!

I've some news.

I've been diagnosed with a tumour in my left kidney. I'm going into Morriston Hospital on Sunday for surgery to remove the offending article and hopefully that will be the end of the matter.

The point I want to make is that this was only found by chance whilst undergoing investigation for something else. My initial symptoms were only ongoing fatigue nothing more.

So please guys do yourselves a favour and badger your GP for blood tests or if you have private cover get yourself checked out.

You've nothing to lose and maybe plenty to gain!

Cheers

Good luck Steve. The 5 year survival rate is very high if you catch it early before it metastises to another organ. You seemed to have done this, very important.

Unfortunately,I have not been so lucky as my colon cancer spread to the liver.

As you rightly say,get yourselves checked people, there are no symptoms most of the time with early cancer.

You could have it right now and be totally unaware.

So are you saying to walk in to the GP and ask for a random check up? Will they do that?

All the very best to you Gowerjack, stay positive, stick two fingers up at it...and kick this monster into touch.💕

In October my daughter came home from holiday greeted by a letter to attend the breast cancer unit that day.
She can't say enough praise for the staff who have treated her, and fortunately it was spotted in normal testing, but was caught early.
Five weeks after her op she climbed to base camp on Everest with her husband and placed the Welsh flag there, sticking two fingers up at cancer.
She started radiotherapy last week, she's incredibly positive and I'm so very proud of the way she's carried herself over the last few months while raising money for the charity.

Good luck to your daughter. She sounds like a helluva girl.

With guts like that she'll beat the b*****d.

No wonder you're proud.

Two years ago almost to the day I started my chemotherapy. I'm still at every home game and the odd away game (though missed a few whilst receiving treatment). With me they said "we can't cure it, but we can treat it". It's not necessarily a death sentence anymore and my treatment is keeping everything in check so far, when it stops working so well they can add a supplement. Stay positive GJ and best wishes.

Thanks Lisa, she's doing well, so determined, positive, tunnelled visioned and I have no idea where she gets those traits from!!

I'm hoping Gowerjack is having his first day today of kicking this into touch.
