Not beaten a side in the top 10 since the opening day. 08:29 - Dec 9 with 1505 viewsthornabyswan

This is not a criticism but it shows there is a bit of a gap between us and the challenging teams in what is an exciting but pretty mediocre league.

It's a shame .because I think we are only maybe 2 or 3 players short of being up there.

A CDM with a bit of bite a striker as back up for Ollie and A decent number 1 keeper would do me.

You cant say that until the end of the season. All the teams we have beaten may finish the season in the top 10 . Blackburn were in the top 10 when we beat them. Its insane to try and correlate stats from an incomplete sample. Just have a day off for fks sake.

It is equally true that up until the time we lost to Norwich, we hadn't lost to a team who were above us in the table and all our 5 defeats had been to teams below us - Ipswich, Rotherham, Bristol City, Stoke & Villa. Up to that point we had beaten Sheff Utd & Blackburn and drawn with Leeds, Forest & Boro and maybe even Wigan were above us when we drew up there. Yes, we've now lost to 3 teams above us but over the whole of the season so far, I'd say we've done reasonably ok against the top half and losing to Bristol City, Ipswich & Rotherham was far more disappointing imo.

We now have a run of 5 league games before the FAC weekend and we could well get another 10-11 points from the 15 up for grabs.

Maybe, it's because we aren't good enough to beat the top teams.

That is very true and more or less what I said in the OP.

4 down votes . You can't go round stating facts in this place!

I think we need more than that though - as good to watch as people like Dan have been, we're really missing a top goalscorer who would have buried some of those chances we've missed. Worrying signs we're creaking at the back too, although maybe a decent CDM screen ahead of them would help there as we seem to get done easily on the break.

"pretty mediocre league"- the "experts" on here don't half spout a load of tosh. Cracking competitive league, some excellent teams that would be comfortable in the the Premier.

Competitive league it certainly is.

But that's more to do with the fact that there's little to choose between the 24 Clubs in terms of playing standard with the result that bottom sides can beat the top teams

But the playing standard isn't great. Look at the current Swans squad. How many are good enough to play in the Premier League? Two or three? The gulf in standard is massive and after watching a lot of Championship football on Sky rarely can you say it's impressive stuff.

Players like Routledge and Rangel are past it. And yet both are capable of doing a good job this season in the Championship.....

Only an idiot would eat a turkey curry on Christmas day

Yep. A noteable step down in quality from last year. I think most of us knew that straight away based on the number of posts I’ve seen talking about whether it was this bad when we got promoted. It probably was, we’ve just got used to something better.

You can make mistakes in this league and they’re not punished anywhere ss near often as in the PL.

It’s been more enjoyable to watch though at times.
