Wasn't a sell out. Got there about 15 minutes after kick off.
Good crowd about 4,000.
Good atmosphere as well.
First half Newport failed to make their advantage pay and could have gone in one down.
Second half was a lot better, much more decisive and only one winner.
Another ground off the list and a good game to boot.

Newport is like the forgotten zone, almost like its not really there, you get on the m4, suffer it and head to Bristol or London. Seems to be a serious lack of dentists as most seem to lack teeth.
They did have a very lively set of fans back in the 80’s. I was in queen street once about 1985 when about 100 of them came off the station out of the blue, there was no game on, it was like a war most weekends back then. |  |

There’s no doubt Newport has a deservedly crap reputation. Pill, Ringland and Bettws are all scummy, and the city centre is pretty chilling, though there are nice areas too, like Malpas and, errm, Caerleon, and probably others.
Growing up there I never really noticed how bad the centre was but once I’d moved away return visits often seemed quite dicey.
As for the football - as always it only takes one pleb to screw things up. Newport had the infamous coin thrower v Swans, then there was someone fairly recently who threw something at the visiting dugout resulting in the terrace being closed. Newport fans either never see these wrongdoers or refuse to grass them up. [Post edited 14 Dec 2018 11:40]

You were t there though were you? Did you come to the infamous Cardiff v Swansea game August 1987? One of my first games ever. Hanging round town like a dumb 15 year old. About 80 of you came out of the station and were subsequently chased back in by a bigger crew waiting for you.
