We’re out for dinner this year. For the first time in my 47 years I won’t be having Christmas dinner in either my own house or that of one of the family. Not sure how I feel about it but it’ll be nice to spend Christmas day just me and the wife for the first time ever, and we’ve been married for knocking on for 20 years (I forget exactly how long). |  |

My dad was the same and not only on Christmas Day. Always thinking of the people who were working. He could never relax. Not for him the service culture. It used to drive my mother up the wall. Her oldest sister worked in service down the Gower after the war. She saw nothing wrong with it.
