Eating out for Christmas dinner 18:02 - Dec 21 with 1452 viewsMrSwerve

Never done it myself, can’t imagine being out of the house or a family house for Xmas dinner, although some really enjoy it. What do you do?

I’m partial to a Sunday lunch out but Christmas dinner doesn’t have the same appeal. I know those that have done it but none of them have repeated it in subsequent years.

We’re out for dinner this year. For the first time in my 47 years I won’t be having Christmas dinner in either my own house or that of one of the family. Not sure how I feel about it but it’ll be nice to spend Christmas day just me and the wife for the first time ever, and we’ve been married for knocking on for 20 years (I forget exactly how long).

We went to the Mumbai for eight consecutive years.
It was awesome every time.

I went to the Mumbai this week, wasn't that impressive, plus the Nan bread was tiny. Over priced was my verdict.
Each to their own..

I think it’s 18 years but it might be either 19 or 17. I remember the Swans played Swindon the day we got married. Drew 1-1.

My dad has always refused to eat out for Christmas dinner. He is adamant that that is the one day that no one should have to work.

Guess that has been ingrained in me as I have never had the inclination to go out for Christmas dinner either.

My dad was the same and not only on Christmas Day. Always thinking of the people who were working. He could never relax. Not for him the service culture. It used to drive my mother up the wall. Her oldest sister worked in service down the Gower after the war. She saw nothing wrong with it.

Apart from his wife getting up at 7am to stuff the turkey and spending the rest of the day cooking and washing up.

Funnily enough they do it all together.

How backward thinking of you to assume the wife does all the cooking.

The date is right so if we played Swindon that day you’ve nailed it. 17 years it is then.
