Fer is not a defensive midfielder. He can get away with lapses in concentration further forward, where he just has to burst into action for short periods. He’s very good when he can use his physicality and dribbling to burst past players and open up defences. Stoke are conceding more than a goal a game recently and he's being outperformed defensively by Matt Grimes, who makes more tackles, interceptions, headers and clearances per game (0.1 less blocks). Plus twice as many key passes and a lot less "UnsTch" (ball control errors).
